Latest Rumors on Sony A1 II Camera and FE 28-70mm f//2 GM Lens
First leaked images and specifications of the upcoming Sony A1 II camera and Sony 28-70mm f//2 GM lens. Both Sony products expected to be be officially announced on November 20. As more information surfaces, it will be interesting to see how the A1 Mark II compares to its predecessor and other flagship models on the market.
Sony is set to announce at least one new full-frame Alpha camera on November 19th (or November 20th in certain regions) during an event held at New York’s Creative Space on November 20th and 21st. While Sony has kept details under wraps, industry insiders speculate this could be the long-awaited successor to either the a1 or a7 IV, both flagship models within Sony’s mirrorless lineup. Additionally, the rumored FE 24-70mm F2 GM lens might make an appearance, though lens announcements haven’t yet been confirmed.

Sony A1 Mark II camera
- 50MP full-frame Exmor RS BSI CMOS sensor (same as Sony A1)
- The body is like the Sony A9 III
- New AI chip
- Higher frame rate and faster autofocus
- New CFexpress Type A with 4.0 standard (doubles the speed)
- tilt-and-swivel display
- Programmable C5 button
- Four control dials, three of which are equipped with a position-locking mechanism
- C2PA support for content authentication
- Will go on sale in early 2025
- More expensive than the current Sony A1: $7,500-$8,000 expected price
Sony FE 28-70mm f/2 GM lens
- Filter size: 86mm (for comparison, Canon uses 95mm and the Sony 24-70 GM II has an 82mm filter size)
- Weight: approximately 900g (Canon weighs in at 1430g, while the 24-70 GM II is 695g)
- Dimensions are comparable to this lens
- Image quality and autofocus performance surpass those of the Canon lens
- Estimated price: around $3000 (subject to confirmation)
