New OM-1 Mark II, 9-18mm Mark II and 150-600mm to be Announced Soon
According to latest MFT rumors, the OM Digital will have a big announcement on January 30, 2024. The products on the horizon are the OM-1 Mark II camera, 9-18mm Mark II and 150-600mm lenses.
It looks like OMDS will be announcing a big new product soon. The OM-1 II seems to be a minor change to the OM-1 ($2,599 at B&HPhoto, Adorama), but it may be much more user-friendly due to a significant increase in buffer size and improved AF. We are curious whether this AF improvement will be applied to the current OM-1 with the new firmware. The OM-1 II should cost 2,400 euros (slightly more than $2,000 in the US). Details of the 9-18mm II are unknown, but it is likely a rebranded version of the current 9-18mm.
The most exciting news is the announcement of the 150-600mm F5-6.3 lens. Although this lens is not a PRO series lens, it has very good image quality. The price will be 2,699 euros (around $2,500 in the US). Also, the 150-600mm is not a PRO lens and does not seem to be very expensive, so it will be very welcome for those who want to more easily take pictures of birds and wild animals. If this lens is good, the appeal of the m4/3 system will likely increase considerably.
