Canon EOS R3 Camera Offers 30fps Burst Shooting and Eye Control Autofocus

Canon announced its answer to the Sony A1 and Nikon Z9 with the new EOS R3 full-frame mirrorless camera. The company has revealed the first details of its high-end EOS R3 full-frame mirrorless camera. The R3 has a dual-grip design and will be able to shoot at up to 30 frames per second with full AF. However not branded as a successor to the EOS-1D series of pro sports DSLRs.

The Canon EOS R3 will feature a new Canon-developed back illuminated stacked CMOS sensor, DIGIC X imaging processor, 30fps burst shooting with AF/AE tracking. The R3 will also offer Eye Control AF, which uses the position of the photographer’s eye to select the initial position for autofocus or subject tracking.

No details on price or availability have yet been given, but we can predict that the EOS R3 will be available for the Tokyo Olympics this summer. On the other hand, as we mentioned at the beginning of the article, if it is going to be a competitor of Sony A1 ($6,500) and Nikon Z9 in the professional segment, then we should say that the selling price of the EOS R3 can easily be around $6k.
