Nikon embraces a mirrorless future with Z series cameras and lenses. The Z series comprises both these two cameras and a new lens mount. As they continue to expand the offering for the new Z mount, rumors are coming out of the Nikon Z8, including claims of ultra-high resolution and deep bit depth.

The Nikon Z7 is an extremely well-rounded full-frame mirrorless camera and suitable for a wide range of photographic and video needs. It features a 45.7MP BSI-CMOS sensor, a hybrid AF system with 493 points and 90% coverage and 5-axis in-body image stabilization. The Z 7 can shoot continuously at 9 fps with AE locked and 5.5 fps with continuous AF/AE. The buffer is relatively small, topping out at 18-23 Raw and 25 JPEG images. It can capture 4K video using the full width of the sensor, or users can switch to a DX crop mode where the entire sensor is sampled.
