Confirmed: Nikon D5 Equivalent Mirrorless Camera On the Way
According to Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun newspaper, Mr. Umadate, Nikon’s new CEO, said Nikon is going to launch a flagship mirrorless camera which is equivalent to the Nikon D5.
As previously posted, we were getting rumors about the Nikon D6 DSLR camera that is coming before 2020 Olympics. There is a slight possibility that the company may postpone the release of Nikon D5 successor camera. Instead a high-end mirrorless sports camera could be in mass production in the name of Nikon Z9. On the other hand Nikon is going to announce a new mid-level mirrorless camera sometime before September of 2019. More here. The price for this entry-level Nikon mirrorless camera will be around JPY 100,000 yen (US Price below $1,000). It is claimed that this new camera will be similar to Canon’s EOS RP, aimed at a large group of customers.
Nikon President didn’t mention when they will launch the new model. Here is the translated quote:
“Nikon to introduce a top-end model of the mirror-less camera. Time is a non-published, but Umatate Toshikazu president was revealed in response to the interview of the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun. Top-end model of the digital single-lens reflex camera “D5.”
