Canon PowerShot SX70 HS camera to be announced soon
The latest version in the series is the PowerShot SX60 HS, which was introduced last September at the Photokina 2014 event. It has a gigantic 65X optical zoom lens equivalent to 21-1365mm. The camera features as 16.1 CMOS sensor with DIGIC 6 image processor. The specs list also include 6.4 fps continuous shooting, 1080/60p video, and a max ISO of 3200 (at full resolution).
Let’s list our estimates for the Canon SX70 HS specs. To us, Canon’s highly anticipated long-zoom compact camera could come with a 20.1MP sensor and a DIGIC 7 image processor.
The SX40 HS offered 35x zoom, the SX50 HS had 50x zoom, and the SX60 HS was launched with 65x zoom. When we look at the rival, Nikon has unveiled the Coolpix P900 with an 83x zoom. What is the expected focal length for the Powershot SX70 HS in this case? 100x optical zoom!
There were two patents filed for cameras with 1/3.2-inch-type image sensors. These are the 3.8-380mm f/2.3-7 lens and 3.6-255mm f/2.8-7 lens with built-in extender. But remember Canon’s SX-series cameras have 1/2.3-inch-type sensors. So the SX70 will not come packed with these lenses.
The new Canon EF-S 35mm f/2.8 Macro IS STM will be announced on April 5, 2017 and that would also bring a PowerShot camera. Stay tuned with us for more information.
