Let’s look at the new rumors for Canon’s RF series mirrorless camera lenses. Unconfirmed reports have emerged suggesting that the company may launch two versions of the highly anticipated RF 35mm f/1.2 or f/1.4L USM prime lens. The aperture for the Canon RF 35mm, which is among the most anticipated RF-series Canon lenses until now, has not been finalized yet.
Rumor has it that Canon plans to announce two versions of the 35mm L series lens before the end of 2023. This is the first mention of a potential dual release for this lens. While Canon shooters also await other unreleased lenses, insiders expect numerous new RF optics will be announced in the next six months. An internal zoom RF 70-200mm F2.8 L IS USM is likely one of them and we also have a rumor about RF 50mm f/1.4 which will fill the gap between the excellent but expensive RF 50mm f/1.2L and the inexpensive RF 50mm f/1.8 STM. More details about the upcoming Canon RF 35mm f/1.2L and f.1.4L USM Lens after the break !
Rumors: Canon RF 35mm f/1.2L/f.1.4L USM Lens Coming in Two Version
The speculated maximum aperture of the 35L remains uncertain. Both f/1.2 and f/1.4 apertures have appeared in patents, leaving the final specs open to debate. At this point sources seem split 50/50 on whether it will be f/1.2 or f/1.4.
While intriguing, without further confirmation these reports remain rumors. Canon has yet to officially announce development of the RF 35mm f/1.2L/f.1.4L USM in any form. We will have to wait for more concrete details to emerge.
