Rumor : Sigma to Announce a new 28-70mm f/2.8 FE Lens
Sigma is rumored to announce a new 28-70mm f/2.8 FE lens for Sony E-mount cameras. It will compete against the Tamron 28-75mm FE and cost around $900. This affordable mid-range zoom lens for 35mm full frame format cameras combines high optical performance with compact, lightweight convenience. The FE 28-70mm is ideal for a wide range of subjects, and is dust and moisture resistant for consistent reliability.
The new Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary lens that will be announced together with the rumored Sigma fp L camera and the new external electronic viewfinder EVF-11. The official announcement is expected on February 24, 2021.
According to Nokishita this Sigma 28-70/2.8 is a ‘Contemporary’ lens instead of a ‘ART’ lens, meaning it will focuses on compact size and relies more on digital correction to keep the lens small.
Normal-length zoom lens is designed for Sony Full Frame E-Mount cameras, however can also be used with APS-C models where it provides an 42mm – 105 equivalent focal length.
