Canon Camera Roadmap for 2021
Canon is going to release several new cameras which most of them will be in RF mount. Here are the Canon camera roadmap for 2021.
2020 has been a very productive year for Canon. Despite the Covid-19 process, the company has again consolidated its weight in the industry with the EOS R5 and EOS R6 full-frame mirrorless camera models. We think the Canon full frame mirrorless system will become even more important, especially with Canon RF mount lenses, which are expected to expand this year.

Canon EOS-R1
Canon’s new flagship candidate for the mirrorless system is EOS R1. The Canon EOS-R1 which is expected to be the RF mount mirrorless version of the Canon EOS-1D X Mark III, is currently in development to target professional sports and wildlife photographers. It is among the leaked rumors that the official announcement is made before the Tokyo Olympics this summer.
Canon EOS R5S
The camera, which is expected to be offered with the Canon EOS R5S high megapixel, is claimed to be currently being tested by a very select group of photographers as a finished product. The model will have a high resolution EOS R5 type body, and feature a new 90MP sensor that “almost doubles” the EOS R5’s 45MP sensor. The Canon EOS R5S will target photographers who want to master the details directly. This camera will compete against the rivals like Nikon Z7 II or Sony A7R IV competitor.
Canon EOS R7 APS-C RF Mount Mirrorless Camera
It seems Canon will stop spending more resources on developing Canon EOS M series cameras, and 2021 will be the last year for the Canon EOS M series. The Canon EOS R7 is expected to be an APS-C format RF-mount mirrorless camera and is currently being tested in the wild by a select group of photographers. The official announcement will likely be in August – September 2021. The EOS R7 will be an APS-C RF mount mirrorless camera directly aimed at sports, wildlife and videography to replace the Canon EOS 7D Mark II? Two new entry-level full-frame RF bodies
It looks like Canon plans to launch two new models to update the Canon EOS R and Canon EOS RP. The first body “will be the most affordable full-frame photographic machine Canon has ever made, and the second will be among the current Canon EOS R6 with the EOS RP replacement. Pricing is not yet clearly known, but Canon rumors estimates that it can be priced as these bodies are $899 and $1,499 respectively.
Canon Cinema EOS C50
The Canon EOS C50 cinema camera will likely be announced in the first half of 2021. Details about this upcoming cinema camera are still unknown at the time of writing, but it is said to use a box camera design.
Canon Cinema EOS C90
Similar to the Canon EOS C50, little is known about this Canon EOS C90 cinema camera. However, it looks like we should expect it to emerge in 2021.
Canon EOS 8K Cinema Camera
Canon Japan has released a teaser for the 8K EOS Cinema camera, which is expected to be announced along with another 8K Cinema EOS camera in 2021. We reported that Canon is currently working on two new 8K Cinema EOS cameras. One will be a flagship camera with “A camera” targets such as the Canon Cinema EOS C700, and the other will be a modular camera with similar positioning to the Cinema EOS C300 Mark III and Cinema EOS C500 Mark II. Two Canon 8K Cinema EOS cameras are expected to be announced around NAB 2021 in April.
