Profoto C1 & C1 Plus Smartphone Studio Lights Officially Announced

Profoto today now officially announced the new C1 and C1 Plus studio lights for smartphones. The US price for Profoto C1 is $299, now available for pre-order at B&H Photo Video/Adorama. The US price for Profoto C1 Plus is $499, now available for pre-order at B&H Photo Video/Adorama.

Profoto products can also be used with mirrorless and DSLR cameras, but as they can both be controlled by Profoto’s iPhone app, a smartphone is a natural partner.

With a diameter of 74mm  and height of 49mm, the C1 is the smaller and simpler of the two units. It also has a fixed diffuser dome whereas the C1 Plus has a detachable diffuser dome. The C1 Plus has a diameter of 79mm and a height of 37mm by itself or 64mm with the diffuser dome.

Profoto C1:

The palm-sized unit is designed to be portable, bringing the power of flash to all of your mobile photography. By employing manual mode, you can easily adjust the color temperature, power, and exposure, with a wide color range that can adjust to the color conditions you need. The round shape of the C1 means you get a smooth fall-off, and simple adjustments of position allow you to switch up the natural or dramatic effect of the image.

Profoto C1 Plus:

The Profoto C1 Plus takes the system to the next step, and includes the features of the C1, plus more. The C1 Plus is also compatible color gels, grids, and domes, and expands the possibilities of your entire lighting system. The tools are all attachable via the C1 Plus’ magnetic mount and the entire unit can be added onto a stand or arm with the built-in thread mount. The C1 Plus also works with the Profoto AirTTL Remote, further expanding your system.
