Canon has released new firmware updates for Canon EOS R and Canon EOS RP full frame mirrorless cameras. The main change is the addition of the support for RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM lens.
The 24-240mm includes Dynamic Image Stabilization rated to five stops. When not in use for manual focusing, a customizable control ring can be used to adjust exposure compensation, shutter speed, aperture or ISO.
The lens weighs 26.4oz / 750g and balances much better on the EOS RP. At wide angle it offers a minimum focus distance of 0.50m / 1.64ft and 0.78m / 2.56ft at telephoto. Unfortunately for outdoorsy photographers, it lacks weather-sealing.
