Canon is rumored to be developing another f/2 zoom lens for its RF mount full frame mirrorless cameras. According to recent reports, this f/2 zoom RF mount lens will be a wide-angle zoom and named as RF 16-28mm f/2L USM Lens.
The upcoming RF 16-28mm f/2L will probably not have IBIS, like the first model Canon RF 28-70mm f/2L USM lens. None of these f/2 zoom lenses will have image stabilization. But this is not important as all upcoming EOS R bodies will have IBIS feature in the future.
By the way we are not sure if the telephoto f/2 zoom will complete the holy trinity of f/2 zoom lenses that we’ll meet the “holy trinity” RF mount lenses” by the end of July, 2019. The mirrorless optics are RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM Lens, RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS and RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS.
The RF lenses under development are:
- Canon RF 85mm F1.2 L USM DS
- Canon RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM Lens
- Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS
- Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS
- Canon RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM Lens
- Canon RF 85mm f/1.2L (already announced)
