Canon RF 500mm f/4L IS Lens : First RF Mount Super Telephoto Prime
Canon RF 500mm f/4L IS lens is rumored to be in the works. The lens will be the first super telephoto prime glass in RF-series lens lineup. In the past, Canon tends to announce super telephoto prime lenses in pairs, so it is a possibility to expect another one like RF 300mm f/2.8L IS USM Lens.
These rumored super telephoto prime lenses for Canon full frame mirrorless cameras are expected to arrive in 2020. So they are not in the list of Canon RF Lens Roadmap 2020.
Before that we’ll meet the “holy trinity” RF mount lenses” by the end of July, 2019. The mirrorless optics are RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM Lens, RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS and RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS.
The RF lenses under development are:
- Canon RF 85mm F1.2 L USM DS
- Canon RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM Lens
- Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS
- Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS
- Canon RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM Lens
- Canon RF 85mm f/1.2L (already announced)
