Sony 102MP Full Frame Sensor with 6K Video (IMX555CQR)
A new Sony 102MP Full Frame Sensor with 6K Video (code name : IMX555CQR) now spotted online.
Reported by AndroidLad on the EOSHD forum, this IMX555CQR sensor has 102MP and 6K video. The high-resolution 102MP image sensor is for consumer use and also available to other manufacturers.
A Sony-made 100MP back-illuminated (BSI) sensor is already being used in the medium format Phase One XF camera.
As previously reported Sony is actively working to implement 8K videos for the upcoming mirrorless cameras. We can predict these cameras that are likely to have 8K video in the near future are Sony A9 II, A7S III and A7R IV.
Sony 102MP IMX555CQR sensor features:
- 102MP, 12288 x 8192
- A pixel binning mode for 12bit 6K video
- 4K RGB 4:4:4 video with on-chip colour-aware binning
- 10fps
We have already reported that another Sony full frame sensor that is capable of 60 megapixel stills, 16 channels, and 8K video recording rumored to be used on the Sony A7R IV. It will be exciting to see this high-resolution full frame sensor on the next A7R series shooter too.
