Here is a quick update on the upcoming Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III lens. According to recent reports, previously rumored telephoto zoom optic with bright aperture of f/2.8 turned out to be a new COMPACT-SERVO 70-200mm T/4.4.
The rumor mill claims that the upcoming full-frame lens will be a L-grade model. The construction of the lens design is said to be a little bit lighter.
Most L series lenses share a number of common characteristics not found in Canon’s line of lower-end lenses. L lenses tend to be more durable, incorporating dust and water-resistant rubber seals on some models. Few more details of the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III Lens

The third version of the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L lens will feature a new image stabilization (IS) system as well as optical upgrades. The current-generation Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 lens has been available since 2001, while the latest IS version II optic was announced in March of 2010.
The telephoto lens will be compatible with Canon EOS film and digital SLR cameras. It provides 70-200mm with full-frame and 112-320mm with APS-C sensor cameras.
This lens was claimed to be an answer to the Nikon’s AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR lens. However latest gossips indicates that the release of the standart zoom lens is delayed and announcement date is unknown at the moment. The upcoming EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III will replace the current model around Photokina 2018 in September.
