Sigma is allegedly working on two new telephoto zoom lenses that is expected to be announced in 2018. The products in question are the Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 OS Sport and 70-200 f/4 OS Contemporary models.
The 70-200mm f/2.8 DG OS Sport has been rumored for quite some time, but this is the first time we’ve heard about an f/4 contemporary version.
According to previous mentions the 70-200mm f/2.8 lens will replace the current 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM version. Both lenses should be available for Sigma, Nikon, Canon and Pentax cameras.
Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 OS Sport and 70-200 f/4 OS Contemporary lenses coming in 2018
Sources are reporting that Sigma will be announcing two new 70-200mm lens in the first half of 2018. One of the lenses will be a 70-200mm f/2.8 DG OS Art series lens, and the other one would be a 70-200mm f/4 DG OS contemporary lens.
The lens will offer a focal length between 70-200mm with a maximum aperture of f/2.8. As we all know the company is trying to organize its lenses into three segments: Art, Sports, and Contemporary. These lenses would be added to the company’s Sports and Contemporary series.
The CP+ Camera & Photo Imaging Show 2018 is underway. This is one of the biggest digital imaging events of the year and it takes place in Yokohama, Japan, between March 1-4 in 2018.
This sort of announcement would make some sense for CP+ 2018. So we might see the Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 OS Sport and 70-200 f/4 OS Contemporary lenses in the first half of 2018.
