Canon is allegedly working on a new EF 200-600mm f/4.5-5.6 IS USM lens. The super telephoto zoom optic is expected to be announced in early 2018.
Canon’s L-series lenses known as more durable, incorporating dust-resistant and water-resistant rubber seal and contains optics of higher quality, with many lenses containing fluorite or ultra-low dispersion glass elements, ground aspherically.
The optic will not be L-designated, which means that it will be affordable and lightweight solution for action and sports photographers. The maximum aperture of the super-telephoto zoom lens is not very fast but features built-in image stabilization technology.
Canon EF 200-600mm f/4.5-5.6 IS USM Lens to be Announced in Early 2018
It is expected that the Canon EF 200-600mm f/4.5-5.6 IS lens will be priced lower than the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS II USM, which costs about $2,100. So the price should stand around $1,700. The lens will also compete against some similar optics released by both Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 sports ($1,999) and Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 ($999).
In addition to the rumored Sony FE 200-600mm lens, Canon is another company actively working on the same focal length. The product in question would be the EF 200-600mm f/4.5-5.6 IS USM super telephoto zoom lens, which is expected to be announced in the first half of 2018.
EF 200-600mm f/4.5-5.6 IS USM announcement might include the new PowerShot compact cameras. These products is rumored for early 2018 probably at CES 2018 in January or CP+ 2018 in February. Stay tuned with more information.
