Sources are claiming that the Japanese company will provide new lenses for full-frame E-mount cameras such as the A7, A7R, A7S as well as the new A9.
Sony unveiled the high-end Alpha A9 mirrorless sports camera prior to NAB 2017. The community were expecting the FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM announcement too but the company didn’t introduced the optic at this event.
As a result the Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM and a 135mm for full-frame E-mount is on the horizon and to be announced soon by the end of this month. More details after the break!
Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM and FE 135mm Lenses Coming Soon
The first lens to be revealed for FE-mount cameras is a wide-angle zoom optic made by Sony. This product will offer a constant maximum aperture of f/2.8, throughout the 16-35mm focal length.
When it becomes available in the market, the GM line will have a focal length from 16mm to 200mm in four lenses. These lenses feature dust and moisture resistance, and also dedicated control buttons like AF/MF and Focus Hold that will be ergonomically useful and make for a more DSLR-like experience.
Another optic made by Sony will be the FE 135mm lens. The maximum aperture of the optic is unknown at the moment. It could be either f/2.8 or f/1.8. In both ways the rumor mill claims that this will be faster than the Zeiss Batis 135mm f/2.8.
Nevertheless, everything is based on rumor and speculation, which means that you should not jump to conclusions for now. Stay tuned to Dailycameranews for more Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM Lens information!
