The upcoming Sony A7RIII or A9R full-frame mirrorless camera might come packed with a 72-megapixel sensor. We expect the announcement to be happen in late 2017.
First announcement schedule of Sony is over and we’ve met the Sony A9 and new lenses like the FE 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 GM and FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM.
Considering the high-resolution sensor that the Sony A7R includes, we should expect that a possible new model should be higher than the current 42MP sensor. We believe the second wave of Sony announcements will bring the A7RIII and A7sIII cameras.
Sony A7RIII rumored to feature a 72-megapixel sensor
Sony has announced the A7RII back in June 2015. It is the first camera with a backlit full-frame sensor. The sensor has 42.4 megapixels without an anti-aliasing filter, and supports in-body 5-axis image stabilization technology.
Previous rumors indicates that a Sony A7RIII to feature 72MP sensor. However when we look at the company’s tradition in the A7 series can also apply to the high-end A9 camera.
According to our opinion, the newly announced A9-series will continue on its own. Sony A9 comes with serious speedy technology and is aiming at true sports professionals. It shoots faster than any other full-frame camera out there thanks to a stacked CMOS sensor with incredible autofocus coverage.
Nevertheless, everything is based speculation, which means that you should not jump to conclusions for now.So if we go back to the main question and ask “Will Sony announce a A7RIII or A9r?” Our answer would be the Sony A7RIII!
