Fujifilm is planning to release a new prime lens with a bright aperture soon. The name of the optic will be the XF 50mm F2 R WR and is expected to arrive in January.
The company’s roadmap already stated that this lens was due to release in early 2017. We all know the demand is high on these f2 compact weather resistant lenses in the industry.
If the announcement occurs, this will be a mid-telephoto optic with a field of view equivalent to 76mm (in the 35mm film format). More details after the break!
Fujifilm XF 50mm F2 R WR lens scheduled for January announcement
The upcoming XF 50mm F2 R WR will be similar to the “XF 23mm F2 R WR” lens. It will have a compact, lightweight and stylish design. Ideally suited for portrait photography, the new Fuji prime will provide beautiful bokeh and high-speed autofocus.
As for the WR designation indicates, the lens will feature water and dust resistance and work in low temperatures. On the other hand we expect that the optic will benefit the same fast and silent autofocus of 0.05 seconds just like the 23mm model.
By launching theXF 50mm F2 R WR lens Fuji will also complete the “compact prime trio” range. The trio consists of 23mm, 35mm and 50mm lenses with the same f/2 aperture options.
The Japan-based manufacturer was initially scheduled to unveil new products including X100F, X-T20 cameras. So the official announcement of the XF 50mm F2 R WR lens could be on January 19. Stay tuned with us for more information.
