Canon is rumored to announce a new EF 85mm f/1.4L IS USM lens sometime in 2017.
The mid-range telephoto prime lens is expected to have a weather-sealed design as well as new manual and autofocus system.
The construction of the EF 85mm f/1.4L IS USM will also incorporate the blue spectrum refractive element same as the EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM model. More details after the break!
Canon EF 85mm f/1.4L IS USM Lens On the Horizon
As you know the Blue Spectrum Refractive (BR) is a new optical element that corrects chromatic aberrations at an extremely high level.
The EF 85mm f/1.4L IS USM from Canon will have improved optics inside and the elements used in the construction include the the blue spectrum refractive design.
Anyway it is currently unknown if the EF 85mm f/1.4L IS will be the EF 85mm f/1.2L II lens replacement or an addition to the lineup.
Here are the rumored specs so far:
- Incorporate the blue spectrum refractive element of EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM Lens
- Weather sealed
- New manual focus system, a faster autofocus system
- To be announced sometime in 2017
