Fujifilm has released the new firmware update for the XF 90mm f/2 and XF 16-55mm f/2.8 lenses.
The new firmware resolves the issue which may result in a failure if the upgrade is conducted with a camera whose firmware is the previous version.
The XF 90mm f/2 consists of 11 elements in 8 groups. The construction includes three ED (extra low-dispersion) elements, which reduces chromatic aberrations.
The XF 16-55mm F2.8 includes Nano-GI coating technology with 9 rounded blade aperture diaphragm help create smooth and circular bokeh.

The phenomenon is fixed that the LCD on the camera blinks on & off after the camera is turned on and then a “Lens Error” message is indicated if the upgrade is conducted with a camera whose firmware is the previous version.
As a side note the issue does not occur with X-Pro2 and X-E2S.
