Panasonic 8K camera to be announced at Photokina 2016

Panasonic is rumored to be working on a 8K camera and the development of the mirrorless model will allegedly be confirmed at Photokina 2016.

Actually Panasonic 8K camera was supposed to be released in 2020. However, its launch date pushed back to 2018, source revealed. So it is a big probability that we will see a development announcement in September at the world’s biggest digital imaging event.

4K resolution has been around for a while and when this kind of rumors appear we remember the recent leaks refers to the high-end video centric Panasonic GH5 model.

Panasonic GH5 will be the new 6K capable mirrorless camera and expected to record 4K videos at higher frame rates such as 60p and 6K videos at 30fps. Previously sources has revealed that the company will launch a 6K camera, most likely called Lumix GH5.

According to the recent leak the Panasonic 8k camera will have a 8k photo mode and each image will be 33.5 MP in size. The users will be able to re-focus simply by touching anywhere on the image.

Panasonic GH4 was so popular in 2014 and gained “Gold Award” from Dpreview with a very high score of 85%. The Micro Four Thirds camera is capable of capturing 4K videos at a frame rate of up to 30fps.

The specs list for the Panasonic GH4 camera includes a 16.05-megapixel Digital Live MOS sensor and a 4-CPU Venus Engine, capable of capturing high-resolution JPEG and RAW stills, as well as UHD 4K 3840×2160 30p/24p and cinematic DCI 4K 4096×2160 video at 24p. Video can be recorded in a variety of formats, from efficient AVCHD and AVCHD Progressive, to 200 Mbps All-Intra and 100 Mbps IPB MOV and MP4 formats.

There is no detailed specifications or release date of the GH4 replacement camera. The upcoming GH5 has a long way to go before becoming official.
