Canon has patented a new prime lens in Japan. The new patent describes the EF 28mm f/1.4L USM lens designed for Canon DSLRs with full-frame image sensors.
The current EF lenses with maximum aperture of f/1.4L lineup includes EF 35mm f/1.4L USM, EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM and EF 24mm f/1.4L II USM models. The EF 28mm f/1.4L USM prime lens comes with the same f/1.4 fast maximum aperture which is ideal as an everyday lens and is very effective in low light conditions.
From the patent application we can say it will be a L-series lens known as more durable, incorporating dust-resistant and water-resistant rubber seal. L lenses also contain optics of higher quality, with many lenses containing fluorite or ultra-low dispersion glass elements, ground aspherically.
