Sigma has officially announced a new fast-aperture lens to its Art lineup: the Sigma 50-100mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art model.
The telephoto zoom optic will be available for Canon, Nikon and Sigma cameras with APS-C sized image sensors.
It will provide a 35mm equivalent zoom range of 75-150mm which is perfect for portrait and wedding photography. This lens has a redesigned Hyper Sonic Motor, nine-blade rounded aperture and internal zoom. Weight of the lens is (1490g/3.3lbs), it also has a built-in tripod socket.
The telephoto zoom lens with a fixed aperture of f/1.8 is lighter than the competitors like the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II and Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II lens models. Price of the lens is $1,099.

Factoring in the APS-C image circle of 1.5x, the 50-100mm F1.8 covers three popular short tele prime focal lengths: 85mm, 105mm and 135mm.
