More details are coming for Canon’s previously rumored 24-70mm f/2.8L lens with built-in image stabilization technology.
According to latest Canon rumors, the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS lens is allegedly in development but the official announcement is expected to be in 18-24 months period. It’s a long wait because the size is too big with image stabilization feature, so Canon released a smaller EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II instead.
The IS version of the standart zoom lens would not replace the non-stabilized version, and would probably cost a lot. The IS being worked on for the lens will provide better performance than anything currently in the Canon lineup, along with more optical upgrades.
Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS Lens Rumored for Late 2016
Canon’s EF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM lens is the most popular lens in the lineup and it will sure compete the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 VR lens. Meanwhile, the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM standart zoom lens is currently priced for $2,299.00 at Amazon.
The price of this new IS lens will be more expensive than EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM, and will not replace EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM.
