Olympus has announced the Global Open Photo Contest 2015 and accepting entries through to 05:00 am GMT on Friday 20 November.
Entries are invited in four categories which are offered under five thematic headings: Life (“Birth”), Future (“Places to Preserve”), People (“Smiles”), and Technical (“Macro” and “Art”).
Up to 5 entries per theme can be submitted, and entrants are free to amend entry descriptions, take down entries or add fresh photos at any time during the competition period. The total value of the prizes on offer is approximately €30,000. See the press text below for full details.

Southend – Showcasing and recognizing talented photographers, the Olympus Global Open Photo Contest at http://gopc.olympus-imaging.com opens from 08:00 am (BST) on Tuesday 25 August and is accepting entries through to 05:00 am (GMT) on Friday 20 November.
Entries are invited in four categories which are offered under five thematic headings: Life (“Birth”), Future (“Places to Preserve”), People (“Smiles”), and Technical (“Macro” and “Art”). They should be in JPEG format with a maximum 15 MB file size. Up to 5 entries per theme can be submitted, and entrants are free to amend entry descriptions, take down entries or add fresh photos at any time during the competition period. The image data files can be created using any type of camera or smartphone, from any manufacturer, and uploaded to the contest website. Entries which have been digitally manipulated using photo editing software are also accepted.
The jury panel will be announcing the results via the contest website in February 2016. The Grand Prize (one winner, receiving the latest Olympus PEN series camera and 1 million yen (c. EUR 7,400)) will be chosen across all entries and themes. A further 14 prizes will be awarded for each theme (1st, 2nd, 3rd and one Bonus Prize receiving Olympus cameras, and 10 Honorable Mentions each receiving a Moleskine Custom Edition notebook).
The total value of the prizes on offer is approximately EUR 30,000.
The contest also features a viewers’ raffle – anyone who registers on the site to view the entries (whether entering the contest or not) has the chance of winning either the latest Olympus PEN series camera, or one of 300 Moleskine Custom Edition hardcover notebooks.
