DxOMark has posted their test results for the Zeiss Otus 85mm f1.4 Apo Planar T* lens. They reviewed the standart prime lens for full-frame cameras which is currently priced for $4,490 and the lens showed an outstanding performance.
Zeiss Otus 85mm f/1.4 prime lens scored 49 points and tested with the Nikon D800E full frame DSLR camera. Best performing prime lens in DxOMark database is still the 55mm Otus on the Nikon D800E. The new 85mm model scored 1 point less than the older model.
The Zeiss Otus 85mm f/1.4 APO Planar T* features 11 elements in nine groups and includes an aspherical element with six special glass elements. See the official announcement and sample images of the new Otus lens.

The new Otus 85mm is without question the most desirable and best performing 85mm portrait lens available but at $4,490 it’s not for those without deep pockets. It’s also rather large and bulky […] and it lacks the convenience of autofocus. While that may not be an issue for most enthusiasts or professionals (particularly as AF is at best difficult with f1.4 models) it’s likely to further limit its appeal, even if the real reason is obvious.

The new Zeiss Otus 85mm f/1.4 lens has been designed for Canon and Nikon full frame cameras. The Otus 1.4/85 will be available worldwide with the F-mount (ZF.2) or EF-mount (ZE) from mid-September. The expected recommended retail price is US$ 4,490.
