DxOMark has posted their test results for the Sigma 50-500mm f/4.5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM lens which is currently priced for $1,509.

Sigma 50-500mm f/4.5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM lens scored 20 point when tested with the Nikon D600 DSLR camera. It has also scored a point of 13 for Nikon mount when tested on Nikon D800 DSLR camera.

The Sigma APO 50-500mm f4.5-6.3 performs very well on the Nikon D600, while it is one of the sharpest of its type measured on the 36-megapixel Nikon D800.

The Sigma 50-500mm f/4.5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM Lens is a zoom lens for digital SLR cameras. The lens has a standard to ultra telephoto zoom range that is ideal for nature, wildlife, or sports photography.

The Sigma might not have the build and outright image quality at the longer end of the zoom range of the premium marques, with Nikon’s own offering being recently redesigned and improved in lots of meaningful ways. But, given the extra versatility from the wider zoom and the savings of around $1,000 over the Nikon badged lens, the Sigma is hard to ignore.
