Tokina has announced the availability of their full frame AT-X 70-200mm f/4 PRO FX VCM-S telephoto zoom lens.
The prototypes of the lens first displayed at the CP+ Show 2012 and later on other prototypes shown during CP+ 2013. Now the lens officially announced for Nikon F-mount cameras.
The Tokina AT-X 70-200mm F4 PRO FX VCM-S telephoto zoom lens is designed for use with full frame SLRs. The lens has a ring-type ultrasonic motor for autofocus, and the voice coil motor-driven IS system promises three stops of stabilization. On APS-C / DX format SLRs it will offer a 105-300mm equivalent zoom range.
A tripod collar (TM-705) will be available as an optional accessory. TM-705 will be sold separately for ¥24,000 (around $230) and will start shipping on June 30th.
The lens will initially be available in Nikon mount, and will go on sale in Japan at the end of May for ¥150,000. Around $1,500 the US price will probably be lower, for comparison see the Nikon version which is currently priced for $1,400.
