Nikon is rumored to launch the new version of AF-S Nikkor 400mm f/2.8G premium ultra-fast telephoto lens. Announcement of the new version could be announced as early as this week with Nikon 1 S2 on May 15.
The new Nikon AF-S 400mm f/2.8G ED VR telephoto lens is expected to have fluorite coatings and SWM update. The lens construction already incorporates a magnesium die-cast barrel, and professional-grade dust and moisture sealing allows it to be used in more rugged situations.
The current Nikon AF-S 400mm f/2.8G ED VR lens features the improved Vibration Reduction (VR II) system that allows handheld telephoto shooting, minimizes image blur caused by camera shake, and offers the equivalent of shooting at a shutter speed of about 4 stops faster.
