Canon is rumored to announce a new L lens in a couple of months period. The next L series lens is rumored to be the replacement for the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM model.
The successor of Canon EF 100-400mm f4-5.6L IS lens is rumored for years and the announcement of the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4-5.6L IS II previously rumored for early 2014. Now the new model is expected to arrive in August, before the Photokina show this year.
There are no specs detailed for the new version of the lens. Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II to be announced after or shortly before the EOS 7D replacement.

It is said that Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II will not feature a push-pull zooming system and Canon will add a zoom ring to this product.
The current EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM telephoto lens is available for $1,499 at Amazon. The new lens will be a bit more expensive when compared to the old one.
