Olympus Stylus 1 Wins Red Dot Design Award
Olympus Press Release
Olympus STYLUS 1 is honoured for its design
For the fifth year in a row, Olympus has maintained its strong track record of winning submissions for the red dot design awards, this time for the game-changing STYLUS 1. This prestigious international prize recognizes outstanding design, assessing products on criteria including design innovation, functionality, ergonomics, ecology and durability.
“The elegance of this camera’s design is truly distinctive, and fully merits its red dot award”, said this year’s judges of the STYLUS 1. They went on to say: “In sleek and classic black, it is particularly the intelligent arrangement of its controls which stands out. The left hand can comfortably adjust the click-free control ring, the zoom lever or the tilting touchscreen, while the ergonomic anti-slip grip allows the camera to be held securely in the right hand and operate the shutter release. The camera design incorporates many outstanding features: the 1.44M dot, 0.58x magnification electronic viewfinder is larger and sharper than most ‘superzoom’ cameras, it comes with a large image sensor, and its 1:2.8 aperture lens provides exceptional, constant brightness across the entire 10.7x zooming range. It is sufficiently compact to be a go-anywhere camera, but offers performance comparable to that of a professional camera.”
