Fujifilm Press Release
Double honours at the 2014 TIPA Awards for Fujifilm with the X-T1 and the FUJINON XF10-24mmF4 R OIS lens
FUJIFILM Corporation (President: Shigehiro Nakajima) is delighted to announce the awards it collected at the recent 2014 TIPA awards. Widely recognised as the most coveted photo and imaging awards worldwide, Fujifilm’s FUJIFILM X-T1 compact system camera, and FUJINON XF10-24mmF4 R OIS lens were winners in their categories at the 2014 Technical Image Press Association awards (TIPA)*.
Fujifilm X series cameras have consistently triumphed at the TIPA awards over the last few years with the “FUJIFILM X100”’s success three years ago, both the “FUJIFILM X-Pro1” and “FUJIFILM X-S1” winning awards 2012, and triple honors at the 2013 “FUJIFILM X-E1”, “FUJIFILM X20” and “FUJINON XF14mmF2.8 R”.
1. TIPA Best Compact System Camera Expert Award – The “FUJIFILM X-T1” Premium interchangeable lens camera
The FUJIFILM X-T1 is a weather-resistant interchangeable lens camera with an OLED electronic viewfinder (EVF) and the company’s latest generation 16.3 MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS II sensor. The X-T1 uses more than 80 points of weather sealing, and the camera body is dust-resistant and water-resistant. The 3-inch LCD screen has 1.04 million dot resolution and is made of tempered glass for additional protection. Phase detection pixels integrated into the sensor offer the benefit of a “Digital Split Image” manual focusing aid, which helps bring precision to wide aperture or macro shooting. Lens Modulation Optimiser (LMO) technology integrates focal length, aperture, and image data for each lens mounted for optimal results.
2. TIPA Best Compact System Camera Expert Lens Award – The “FUJINON XF10-24mmF4 R OIS” X Mount Interchangeable lens
This 15-36mm equivalent lens incorporates optical image stabilization and has a newly designed optical system using 4 aspheric lenses and 3 extra low dispersion glass lenses. An internal steeping motor and enhanced focusing system, with high-speed AF and internal focusing, makes zooming a silent and rapid process. Close focusing distance via the macro setting is about 11 inches (to about 10 feet in that range), while normal focusing (about 1.5 feet to infinity) allows for extremely deep depth of field images at narrower apertures or wonderful soft backgrounds at wider ones. The aperture can be controlled in 1/3 EV steps. Special attention has been paid to reducing ghosting and flare with Fujifilm’s HT-EBC multi-layer coating to all sides of the lenses.
*TIPA (Technical Image Press Association) is one of the most powerful and influential photographic industry organisations in the world with membership from 28 photo and imaging magazines in 15 countries, across five continents. Every year, it reviews image-related products released in Europe and awards the best product in each category.
