Nikon AF-S 105mm F1.4E ED prime lens announced

Nikon has unveiled the fastest AF-S Nikkor 105mm F1.4E ED prime optic with autofocus.

The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 105mm f/1.4E ED is a new full-frame telephoto prime lens with a class-leading maximum aperture and electronic diaphragm control technology.

The optical formula comprises 14 elements in 9 groups. The lens construction includes three ED glass elements, and an iris diaphragm with 9 rounded blades. It features Nikon’s Nano Crystal Coat technology to significantly reduce instances of ghosting and flare. The optic is heavy weighing in at 985g/2.1lbs.

The Nikon AF-S 105mm F1.4E ED will start from late August for a suggested retail price of $2,199.95.

Nikon AF-S 105mm F1.4E ED is an incredibly bright portrait lens designed for FX-format F-mount DSLRs. The f/1.4 maximum aperture benefits working in low-light conditions and also affords extensive control over focus for shallow depth of field imagery.

The fast prime optic is also characterized by a Silent Wave Motor that produces fast, smooth, and quiet autofocus capabilities. Full-time manual focus override allows instant switching between AF and MF focusing systems.
