Fujifilm has patented a new XF 16mm F1.8 wide-angle lens designed for APS-c size sensor X-mount cameras.
The new wide-angle prime optic would be the f/1.8 version of the current XF 16mm F1.4 model. It is effectively a 24mm lens, when mounted on an APS-C sensor X body.
From the patent application the optical design of the XF 16mm F1.8 is similar to the f/1.4 version. We guess that this might be a budget-friendly version of the bright aperture one.
Fujifilm patent for 24mm equiv XF 16mm F1.8 lens
It seems that a new Fujinon XF 16mm f/1.8 wide-angle prime lens is in the works. Even the translation is not perfect and this product is not in the official lens roadmap, we can think of 2017 for a possible release date.
